What is Poke?
Poke is a raw fish salad that is offered in Hawaiian cuisine. The word poke is the hawaiian verb for “section” or “to slice or cut”. Traditional poke is made with ahi tuna, soy sauce, green onions, sesame oil, onions and sesame seeds. Although this dish was typically served as an appetizer in the states, over time, the dish has evolved into a main course where individuals have not only incorporated different types of fish such as salmon and albacore, but also incorporated a variety of different toppings such as avocado and seaweed salad.
